Upcoming Scout Program for 2013:
Work & Play in a Manor House
Monday, October 14 from 10am – 12pm
Travel back in time to experience the Skinner mansion at the turn of the 20th century. Find out about members of the Skinner family, their servants and experience the household as it ran on a day-to-day schedule – from making beds to dinner etiquette! Using objects from the past, kids will discover what everyday life was like as a young master or miss and they will explore the “behind-the-scenes” life of working servants. Participants will learn how to read an artifact from the past through hands-on exploration. This program introduces today’s youth to life in a household manor, comparing and contrasting upper class and working class as well as the different roles each played. Admission $7, pre-registration is required

Mind Your Manners
Girl Scouts are invited to step back in time and sip tea in Holyoke’s premier historic house from the late 1800s. Our distinguished guests will be refreshed on how to properly introduce themselves to others, displaying appropriate table manners and polite reminders on proper dinner conversation. Tea and light snacks will then be served in the beautiful Italianate Music Room at Wistariahurst Museum, in order for all to display their pristine manners.
Program length: 2 hours
Cost: $10 per scout.
