With the beginning of a new year, it occurred to us, why not follow one of the Skinner Family Members, posting their daily journal entries for a year.
A quick search found the 1888 Excelsior Diary of William C. Skinner, son of William and Sarah Skinner of Holyoke, MA.
Below you will find links to entries for each week as they are transcribed. New entries will be posted weekly by Monday afternoon.
Here is the Most Current Entry: December 9 – December 15, 1888
This piece of family and Holyoke history was donated by Elizabeth Kilborne Hudnut to Wistariahurst Museum in 1989 and has proven to be a great source of information about the family and their prosperous business.
The front matter of the diary includes a Year and Month Calendars for 1888, and several lists and charts such as the Eclipses, Morning Starts, Evening Stars, Planets Brightest, Movable Feasts, Chronological Cycles, Interest and Wage tables, Foreign Currency values, Presidents of the United States and Principal Cities and States with their Populations and Electoral Votes.
