LXXIV

Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Today we visited the Cathedral again.  This time seeing the numerous chapels and Treasurey.  In the Treasury is a gold case set with previous stones and valued at $15,000,000 which is said to contain the bones of the wise men of the East.  From the Cathedral, we went to the church of the Jesuits, and saw the tomb of the founder of that church.  Then we went to St. Ursula’s church which is completely filled and adorned with her bones and those of her 11,000 virgins massacred with her.  The rest of the day we spent in shopping and dining.  We found Cologne a much larger place that we at first supposed.
