Opening Reception of A Genius for Place: American Landscapes of the Country Place Era

Join us at Wistariahurst Museum on Sunday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. for the opening reception of A Genius for Place. Panels from the seven estates will be on display in the Music Room and there will be a screening of Fletcher Steele and Naumkeag: Playground of the Imagination; Naumkeag being one of the seven sites. Fletcher Steele was the landscape architect for Naumkeag, now a Trustees of Reservations site. On hand for remarks will be Jane Roy Brown, the director of educational outreach at LALH. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. A Genius for Place will be on view in the gallery at Wistariahurst from May through August and will be complemented by garden and landscape designs from the archives at Wistariahurst depicting the Skinner family gardens. Suggested donation $5 to benefit the garden restoration at Wistariahurst
