Quilting with the Holyoke Creative Arts Center

Monday December 9, 2019 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Come quilt at Wistariahurst with the Holyoke Creative Arts Center.

Would you like to hug someone in fabric? Make a quilt! This is an unstructured quilting class, for beginners and experienced quilters alike. It allows you to learn to quilt while you learn about various tools and techniques that make quilting fast and fun! Start a project of your own choosing, or bring a project you are already working on, or if you are undecided, a beginner project is ready to welcome you to the satisfying art of quilt making.

This 4 week Holyoke Creative Arts class will be held at Wistariahurst in Holyoke. Enjoy quilting in the Gallery, situated in the oldest part of the historic mansion and filled with a rotating selection of local art and items from the Wistariahurst collections. Draw inspiration from the space designed by the philanthropic Holyoke sisters, Belle and Katharine Skinner, who founded the Skinner Coffee House, where the Creative Arts Center textile classes had their origins in the early 20th Century.

Required supplies for this program:

Bring your own project.

Or, if you want to make the beginner project please contact the Center for a supply list (includes the yardage needed for the project).

In general sewing machines, cutting boards, and rulers are available for your use during class. All other tools and sewing needs are the student’s responsibility to bring to class such as a rotary cutter, scissors, thread, etc.
