Maybe you’ve seen them in flea markets or on the walls of antique houses or museums. Framed pieces of cloth with what may look like embroidered figures of people and animals, flowers, ornate borders and often the alphabet. These are cross-stitch samplers and Joanne Picard has curated an exhibit of them for the Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke, MA.

Talking with WCCH show host Stevie C. and Museum Archivist Penni Martorell, Joanne’s passion for samplers shines through as she tells us the story of how these delightful pieces of history were made and used.
