The Wistariahurst Institutional History Collection is the institutional history of the museum, which is also a cultural center and city department. It contains records of most all the activities and programs run by the organization as found in internal planning documents and press coverage; planning, development and fundraising activities; use and maintenance of the gardens, grounds and buildings; finance and staff records; supporting organizations; and photographs. The bulk of materials and most interesting are in the scrapbook and news clippings which document the history of the museum, as well as the events and programming files. These series show the vast amount of programming the museum has been involved with over the years.

The Wistariahurst Institutional History Collection consists of 26 linear feet of material, dating from 1918-2016. Material formats include scrapbooks, news clippings, photographs and negatives, guest books and attendance records, developmental and organization documents, programming, financial records, and material related to the gardens and grounds.
